Classification of Eurofurs
In spite of the great variety, multi-purpose trucks (lorries) can be divided into several main types:
1. Tilt wagons
- The most popular in Europe and the Customs Union countries, tent wagons are also known as tilt trucks or Eurofurs. Their design includes a platform and a steel frame on which a dense waterproof PVC or rubberized tarpaulin tent is stretched. Such trucks are often equipped with a frame and a tent, which makes them versatile and convenient for loading.
2. Curtain wagons
- Curtain wagons have a similar construction to tent wagons: a platform and a welded (less often prefabricated) frame. Their peculiarity is the presence of a sliding side wall (curtain) and a rigid swinging rear gate. This provides convenient access to the cargo and allows side loading
3. Flatbed trucks
- Flatbeds consist of a platform with rigidly fixed or hinged sides, which can be fixed or hinged for easy loading. The main advantage of these wagons is the possibility of quick loading and unloading with the help of a truck crane. They are ideal for transportation of construction materials and bulk goods
4. Curtain-sided wagons
- This type of van combines the features of flatbed, curtain and tent models. Sliding side walls speed up the loading and unloading process, rigid sides secure the cargo, and a tent provides additional protection
5. Dump trucks
- Dump trucks are designed for transportation of bulk goods and are equipped with a tilting mechanism for quick unloading. There are models with tilting in longitudinal (backward) or lateral direction
6. Specialized wagons
- Heavy haulers –used to transport cargoes weighing from 15 to 100 tons, including construction equipment and oversized structures. Cargo capacity depends on the number of axles (from 2 to 10)
- Container trucks – designed for intermodal and multimodal transportation, equipped with a sliding frame for easy loading of containers
- Isothermal trucks – semi-trailers with multilayer walls that provide thermal insulation, which allows the transportation of frozen products
- Refrigerators – similar to isothermal trucks, but additionally equipped with a refrigeration unit to maintain a certain temperature regime
- Tanker trucks – used to transport liquids such as petroleum products, chemicals and food products. Some tankers are equipped with refrigeration or heating units
- Lumber trucks – have U-shaped decks for securing logs, and some models are equipped with cranes for automatic loading and unloading
Dimensions and load capacity of the vans
The standard Eurofurra has the dimensions of the semi-trailer 13.6 m x 2.45 m, which allows to optimally place 11 rows of 3 Europallets in the body

Tandem
A tandem is a three-link hitch consisting of a truck and two trailers. This method allows road carriers to increase the payload capacity and efficiency of using one tractor. In Russia, the maximum length of such trucks is limited to 20 meters, and in the EU countries - 18.75 meters. Scandinavian countries are an exception. For example, tandems up to 34 meters in length are allowed in Sweden
